Emotional Powertool Safety

Just because you didn't do it on purpose doesn't mean it didn't hurt!

I was talking to a friend the other day about the ridiculous nature of Internet romance. I'm not talking about legitimate dating sites that log your 247 traits of compatibility. I'm talking about the ones that begin based on meeting someone in a chat room, or through social networking sites. The one's where very little is real and intentions are unclear.

She was sharing an experience a friend of hers had where a guy kept attempting to keep the woman's interest alive while conducting an ongoing series of various "innocent" relationships through YouTube and other mutually gratifying mediums. In the end it didn't work out and her friend explained that the guy hadn't acted maliciously, it just sort of happened.

Well, this made me think......Does the lack of care make it any less hurtful. Or possibly more if you consider this........

Just because you didn't mean to cut your hand off with the circular saw, does it make it less problematic. I mean, if you were wanting to kill yourself and decided that was the route to the quickest release of all the blood in your body that's one thing. You might not agree with it, but hey, you can respect it, right? But, if for some reason, your lack of care is the only reason you now have a bloody stump where your once "handy" hand with those awesome opposable digits that allowed you to grasp your banana or other important "items" was.....wouldn't that seem all the more tragic???

Just hurting someone accidentally in the course of getting your own jollies....well, that's just life on "your page". It's not real anyway. The person crying on the other end isn't even real, right???? Of course, if these things didn't happen, there wouldn't be the awesome, "Let me tell you why all men are Pigs" blogs that I enjoy so much. You know, the ones where while the injured "lady" is ranting about what scum those of us with the "y" chromosome are, but is actually just exposing what a moronic lonely heart she is to believe she is beautiful and desirable and cannot understand this. It would be more convincing of course if she hadn't been one of those how misguidedly posted her REAL picture in a wonderful 3X animal print gown with an overbite so bad that Mr. Ed springs to mind if you're a baby boomer. Ahh....love.....

I am as always
